Texture Dynamics Framework™

Bringing Texture Clarity to the Full Spectrum of Hair Textures

TDF™ is a modernized methodology for assessing the 15 dimensions of hair through standardized language, diagnostic thinking, and measurable competency.

The Starting Point

Hair cannot be understood through curl pattern alone.

For decades, textured hair has been described primarily by appearance. While curl patterns are important, it represents only one part of the complete picture.

Hair also has measurable physical properties, observable texture characteristics, and functional thresholds that influence how it behaves, how it responds to products, and how much it tolerates during professional services.

The Texture Dynamics Framework™ organizes these hair dimensions into one standardized methodology.

The fifteen dimensions work together to create a comprehensive Texture Profile. Rather than describing hair by a single characteristic, the profile provides a multidimensional understanding that supports consistent communication and informed decision-making.

The Texture Profile Wheel™ — a circular diagram mapping the 15 dimensions of hair across Hair Properties, Texture Indicators, and Hair Thresholds.

One shared methodology.
One shared language.

From the salon chair to the classroom, from product development to the retail shelf, every audience benefits when hair is understood through the same measurable framework.

The Texture Dynamics Framework™ expands the industry's ability to describe, assess, and communicate textured hair with greater consistency and clarity.

Serriah L. Hart, creator of the Texture Dynamics Framework™

The Creator

Meet Serriah L. Hart.

For almost three decades, Serriah worked alongside some of the industry's most skilled professionals, and kept noticing the same pattern. Stylists weren't avoiding textured hair because they didn't care. They were avoiding it because they had never been properly equipped to serve it. "Too difficult," "too unpredictable," "too time-consuming" weren't confessions of indifference. They were the language of an industry that had failed to give its professionals the right tools.

That gap, she came to understand, began in the classroom, where most curricula teach how to straighten, relax, or chemically alter textured hair, rarely how to understand it in its natural state. So she built the system the industry was missing: the Texture Dynamics Framework™.

Why products keep failing

Type systems stop at the surface.

"2A to 4C" describes what your curl looks like — not how it behaves. Two people with the exact same "type" can need opposite routines. That gap is why wash day is a guessing game and why the wrong products keep ending up in your cart.

The guessworkYou buy on hype and hope, then wonder why it didn't work on you.
The surprisesHair that looks one way behaves another — mid-service, mid-wash, mid-style.
The wasteA shelf of half-used products that were never matched to your actual hair.
The system

Read the hair beyond gerneral categories.

The Texture Dynamics Framework™ measures your hair across 15 points — 5 Hair Properties, 3 Texture Indicators, and 7 Hair Thresholds — for a complete, personalized picture of how it truly behaves.

5

Hair Properties

Density, strand diameter, porosity, elasticity, length & shrinkage — what your hair is made of.

3

Texture Indicators™

State, movement, and feel — how your hair actually presents and behaves.

7

Hair Thresholds™

Protein, moisture, heat, tension, and more — the limits before your hair pushes back.

A guided assessment that builds your profile.

Step-by-step tests you can do at home — just water, light, and a few shed strands

Questions, answered.

Is this just another curl-typing chart?

No. Curl typing labels your shape and stops there. The Texture Profile™ measures 15 points of how your hair actually behaves — porosity, elasticity, thresholds, and more — which is what actually determines what works.

Do I need special tools?

No. The at-home tests use things you already have — water, good lighting, and a few naturally shed strands.

What's the difference between the $5 and the $19 builders?

The $5 Enthusiast builder is a one-time purchase to profile your own hair. The $19/month Pro builder is for stylists who build unlimited client profiles and need the full professional toolset, including the Chemical Threshold™.

Can I keep my results?

Yes — every profile can be saved or printed as a PDF, so you always have your Texture Profile™ on hand.

Can I cancel the Pro subscription?

Yes, the Pro builder is month-to-month and you can cancel anytime.

Your profile is the map. The courses teach you to read it.

You've built your Texture Profile™ — 15 points of how your hair truly behaves. The TDF™ courses walk you through interpreting each one: what it means, how the three pillars work together, and exactly what to do about it.

Pillar 1Hair Properties — decodes the hair structure.
Pillar 2Texture Indicators™ — read how it presents and behaves.
Pillar 3Hair Thresholds™ — know its limits and how hair responds.
